Open Call for a Cross-border Training for Young Location Scouting Operators

Within the framework of the REEL Project — A Cinematic Journey through Italy and Croatia, funded by the INTERREG Italy-Croatia Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2021-2027 — Art-kino (Kvarner Film Commission) is launching an open call to select 12 aspiring or early-career location scouting operators for a cross-border training course that will take place in Rijeka from 18th to 22nd February 2026.
The main objective of the training is to provide participants with practical and professional instruction on location scouting, focusing on destination management, logistics, sustainability, and legal considerations, delivered by experienced professionals from the film and tourism sectors.
Through this call, Art-kino, in cooperation with the REEL project consortium, invites eligible candidates from Italy and Croatia to apply for this unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and insights into one of the most dynamic roles in the film production and destination marketing ecosystem.
Selected participants, for whom travel and accommodation expenses in Rijeka will be covered, will engage in field-based exercises, interactive workshops, and creative group work, and will have the opportunity to build their professional portfolios and cross-border networks in a real-world learning environment.
The purpose of this call is to select 12 aspiring or early-career location managers, filmmakers, creative professionals, or tourism sector operators who are motivated to develop their skills in location scouting within the audiovisual and creative industries. The call is open to individuals aged 18 to 40 who are born or reside in one of the areas covered by the Italy–Croatia Interreg Programme 2021–2027 (Adriatic regions of Croatia and Italy), are proficient in English (the language of application and the working language of the training), and have a strong interest in film production, location-based storytelling, and visual composition, as well as the curiosity and ability to evaluate locations in terms of aesthetics, logistics, and legal aspects.
