Program
This series of movies will start with the screening of La Jetée (1962.) by Chris Marker, which is one of the most famous short movies in general and also the movie that inspired a large amount of science fiction movies, including 12 Monkeys (1995.), Terry Gilliam's cult film that will be shown on the same day in the remainder of the programme. The movie La Jetée confronts us with planet Earth after the nuclear war, where scientists are looking for a way to send someone back in time for food and equipment. The story of 12 Monkeys begins in 2035. in Philadelphia, where humans live deep beneath the Earth's crust because humanity has been plagued by an unknown-living disease from which five billion people have died. Authorities send James Cole in the past to isolate dangerous the viruses, allowing the vaccine to be made in the future. The second day of the program brings us the movie 28 Days Later (2002), the mysterious science-fiction horror made by Danny Boyle, which follows a small number of survivors after a virus spreads across the United Kingdom and killes the rest of the population. The last movie of the series is a domestic title, a mix of horror and disaster flicks, based on real events - Variola Vera (1982) by Goran Marković. The main role of the movie, Dr. Grujić, is played by Rade Šerbedžija.
