December at Art-Cinema begins in a grand style - with a screening of films nominated for the prestigious European Film Award. From 1st to 5th December, a total of five top recent European film creations will be shown on the Art-kino's big screen, four of which have been nominated in the category of Best European Film - Pain and Glory by Pedro AlmodóvarAn Officer and a Spy by Roman Polanski, System Crasher by Nora FingscheidtThe Traitor by Marco Bellocchi and Beanpole in which Viktoria Miroshnichenko was nominated for lead actress.

From 1st to 5th December, a total of five top European works will be screened on the Art-kino's big screen, and the European Film Award series, the European counterpart to the Oscars, will be opened by a new film from the Spanish giant Pedro Almodóvar, the long-awaited Pain and Glory with Antonio Banderas in the lead role, for which the Spanish actor received the award at Cannes.

The European Film Awards series at Art-kino also premieres a new film by the controversial Oscar-winner Roman Polanski, a historical drama An Officer and a Spy (four nominations) about the Dreyfus affair, awarded by the Silver Lion at the last Venice Film Festival. Among the selectors of the European Film Academy are Marco Bellocchi's The Traitor (four nominations), a film about the life of one of the most famous mafia penitents Tommaso Buscetta, the German nominee for the Oscar System Crasher (two nominations), a drama about an angry girl who's social system is unable to find a foster parent, awarded with the Silver Bear at the Berlinale, and Beanpole (one nomination), a drama inspired by the stories of Soviet women of World War II, published in the controversial book The Unwomanly Face of War by Nobel prize winner Svetlana Alexievich.

The 32nd selection of the European Film Award presented by the European Film Academy and EFA Productions will take place in Berlin this year, December 7th, and the award is presented in as many as 24 categories (Best Feature, Animated and Documentary, Best Comedy, Director, Screenplay, Actor / Actress, Production, Sound, Editing…). The primary objective of the award is to promote the excellence and diversity of European cinema, to attract new audiences and to draw attention to new European talents.
