Filled Up: Film Literacy Workshop

Published: 22.04.2020.

Dear film lovers, in record time an equally record number of applications for the workshop has arrived, therefore we closed the application period earlier. Due to a great deal of interest, we have opened another workshop date, and the results of the selection will be sent soon via email.

Frame, plan, angle. You love films and you've heard about these terms but... Art-kino has the answers! For its visitors interested in a better knowledge of film art, it offers a free online workshop, a five-day Home School of Film. Applications are ongoing.

Art-kino organises the Home School of Film - a free, five-day online film literacy workshop, which runs from Monday, 4 May to Friday, 8 May, starting at 18:00, under the mentorship of film critic Dejan Durić from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Rijeka.

Adapting to the challenging times we are living in, Art-kino is organising Home School of Film to preserve its core mission which emphasizes the importance of watching valuable films, meeting, reflecting, and learning about film art, even temporarily in the shared online realm.

During five 60-minute sessions participants will learn the basis of film theory - from frame to sound and editing - to become more aware and knowledgeable film viewers. General theoretical frameworks will be complemented by practical examples from the film world, with joint analysis and discussions by participants and mentor.

Applications are open until Thursday, 30 April at noon, and you can sign up at pr@art-kino.org. All interested Art-kino visitors can apply, and as the number of participants is limited, members of the Art-kino’s Film Club have a priority. The results of the selection will be published on Friday, 1 May 2020.
