A presentation of the films made at the Travelling Film Workshops, organised by Art-kino as part of the Children's House, one of the Rijeka 2020 - European Capital of Culture flagships, will be held on 27 February at 18:00 at Art-kino.

On this occasion, short films made in the past two and a half years in the elementary schools Gelsi, Pećine, Nikola Tesla, Podmurvice, Kozala and Srdoči are coming to Art-kino’s big screen.

Travelling Film Workshops is a project that Art-kino launched in the fall of 2015. The idea behind the overall project is to share the practical knowledge required to make a documentary or feature film to children and youth in elementary schools, starting with selection of the film theme, writing a short synopsis and screenplay, acquiring the basic knowledge about means of expression in film such as frame, film plan and angle, and filming and editing the recorded material.

Giving the insight into all production and post-production stages of the film to the interested students will ultimately encourage creative expression of children and youth through active involvement in the film-making process, as well as revitalization of the school film club activities.

Ten workshops have been held thus far, in which over 130 children from elementary schools around Rijeka participated. Eleven short feature and documentary films have been shot altogether, and a special screening of eight films made between 2017 and 2020 will be held in Art-kino.

Travelling Film Workshops are part of the Children's House, one of the flagships of Rijeka 2020 – European Capital of Culture.
