We are tied to our family, neighbors, friends, spaces, and countries, but sometimes all those ties and identities become entangled knots and the borders unsurmountable walls. In the film Are You Listening Mother? a Kurdish woman sentenced to home imprisonment experiences her own living space as a border. A touching animation To The Dusty Sea creates an emotional knot in which the children are tied to an absent, depressed mother. And sometimes we are tied and suffocated by our own country, as is the case in the documentary film Devenir Grand Demain, where the young generations of Guinea are caught between changes and possibilities, fleeing and staying. Should we cut through those Gordian knots?
