Summary

A worker named Milun complains about the unfair dismissal of his colleague Trajčet, and at a party meeting the director accuses him of being the author of an anonymous letter about irregularities in the company. Most are initially on the side of the willfull director, so Milun returns his party booklet. But soon the real author of the letter comes forward.

Despite the suspicion before and during the production (which is why only Jovanović was signed as the screenwriter, without Krešo Golik, who also co-wrote the screenplay), the film was a great success and was highlighted as a positive example of the social engagement of socialist cinema. The viewership was solid too, but some younger critics warned of over-praise from the majority of the most influential media outlets. The film influenced many subsequent films., TV and theater works, and with ideology and content ("topicality", "truth", "modernity", "courage"), praised are the directors, the dramatic unity and the tension in the presentation of the discussion at the meeting. The film won the Best Film Award and the Audience Award in Pula while Bauer won the Award for Directing (ex aequo). On the international scale it was compared to the film Twelve Angry Men, which inspired this film, and the script was adapted into a play for the Ljubljana theater that same year.
