Festival of small literature - Egypt

Program

The Booksa Literary Club and the Kulturtreger association have been organizing the Festival of Small Literature for 15 years, dedicated to discovering new literary geographies that have been neglected in the Croatian cultural space for various linguistic, political or historical reasons. Introducing contemporary Egyptian writers whose translations have been published in Our Trumpets Have Caused Silence, an anthology of contemporary Egyptian literature published by Kulturtreger, this year's festival completes its three-year focus on the Arab Mediterranean, which has so far featured contemporary Middle Eastern and Maghreb literature. From November 27th to December 4th, contemporary Egyptian literature and film will be presented in Zagreb, Rijeka and Dubrovnik through interviews with writers Mansour Ez Eldin, Nael El Toukhi and Yasser Abdel Latif and film program selector Ahmed Refaat. In cooperation with Rijeka2020 in Rijeka, the festival program will be held at Art-kino where Tea Tulić will discuss literature, revolutionary flight and unmet expectations with Mansour Ez Eldin, and film critic Ahmed Refaat will present a contemporary Egyptian film Fallen Angels Paradise (Gannat al shayateen ) by director Oussame Fawzi.
