December Mondays at Art-kino are booked for films by the great Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci, the author of numerous anthological film creations, among which Il Conformista, Last Tango in Paris, The Last Emperor and The Dreamers arrive on the big screen of Art-kino.

The program that will show screenings of films by Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci takes place every Monday during December at the Art-kino, beginning on December 2th at 8 pm with the political drama Il Conformista (1970), the director's adaptation of Albert Moravia's novel, which focuses on the psycho-social characterization of the main character Marcello (Jean-Louis Trintignant), a cultured and insensitive bureaucrat whose life modus operandi is to strive in every system for a position of eligibility, no matter the cost. Equally a commentary on fascism and beauty, Il Conformista is known for lavish visuals and extravagant art photography. An introduction to the screening is given by filmologists from Rijeka Dejan Durić and Boris Ružić.

The continuation of the program on December 9th at 8pm, brings by far the most controversial title in the career of this controversial author, the erotic drama Last Tango in Paris (1972), which with a dramatic palette of colors and outlines of a saturated frame (shot by Vittorio Storaro), paints the relationship of a middle-aged American Paul (Marlon Brando) whose wife commited suicide and a young Frenchwoman Jeanne (Maria Schneider) who serves him as a sexual haven and a form of an escape from the experience of loss. Filmed in the manner of documentary fiction, the film influenced on the liberalization in portraying sexual issues and themes on film.

The following film on the program is The Last Emperor, a biographical spectacle awarded with nine Oscars, which follows the last Chinese Emperor Puu Yiu (Richard Vuu / John Lone) whose life circumstances were completely determined by opposing ideologies and their relationship to his symbolic status. This is the first feature film which the Chinese government allowed to be filmed in the Forbidden City. The Last Emperor is on schedule on December 16th at 8pm.

The series of Bertolucci's film will close with the romantic drama The Dreamers (2003) on December 23th at 8pm It is a film about an unusual friendship between French twins (Eva Green and Louis Garrel) and a young American (Michael Pitt) in an impressive and erotic reminiscent of Paris in the spring of 1968.
